Alcatel-Lucent may set up services hub in India
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Alcatel-Lucent
The global services headquarters would need about $500 million in investments over three years, Verwaayen said, adding the telecom equipments maker will take a final decision in the next few weeks.
Last month, Alcatel-Lucent posted a much-wider-than-expected first-quarter net loss and missed revenue forecasts, blaming a shortage of components that prevented it from meeting customer demand.
The shortage crimped Alcatel-Lucent's ability to benefit from an uptick in demand as operators, especially in the U.S., started spending again on network equipment after having put the brakes on during the recession.
Verwaayen said the company was looking at all options to improve supply of equipments.
