CBI quizzes suspended RRB chief

HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today questioned the suspended Chairman of Railway Recruitment Board, S M Sharma, in connection with a recruitment scam, official sources said.

CBI was yesterday accorded permission by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) for conducting an investigation into the role of Sharma in the leakage of question papers of the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Examinations.

CBI sources said Sharma is in Hyderabad and he has still not been arrested.

CBI had on June 19 claimed to have unearthed a multi-crore railway recruitment scam and arrested 8 persons, including Vivek Bhardwaj Sharma, son of S M Sharma, who was Chairman of RRB, Mumbai, A K Jagannatham, the then ADRM in Raipur and his son Srujan for allegedly leaking exam question paper for money after conducting simultaneous raids in Mumbai, Bangalore, Raipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

CBI has alleged the accused in the scam used to charge Rs 3.5 lakh from an aspirant to leak the question paper.
