Watch out Shah Rukh Khan — the camaraderie between Karan Johar and Aamir Khan goes beyond hobnobbing at the music launch of Peepli Live
A That Karan Johar’s happens to be Shah Rukh Khan’s best friend is well known. Why then, we wonder, would Karan be spotted at a music launch hosted by Aamir Khan, considering the two Khans are believed to be at loggerheads with each other?
Recently, at the music launch of Aamir Khan’s Peepli Live on Tuesday evening, Karan was one of the special invitees. This itself proved to be a shocker for many who know Karan to not be a part of Aamir’s camp. And that’s not all. Karan was seen mingling with Aamir, as though they had been thick friends for long. Among the guests present were Aamir’s regulars like Rakyesh Mehra, Raju Hirani, Sharman Joshi, and Ashutosh Gowarikar among others.
Our source said, “Karan Johar was first seen at Aamir Khan’s party that he hosted for Gustavo, who is composing music for Dhobhi Ghat. Karan was the first one to come to the party and the last one to leave in the wee hours of the morning. Throughout the night, Karan was seen bonding with Kiran Rao and Aamir.”
Apparently, at the music launch, Karan grabbed a seat right next to Aamir and looked quite snug there. Aamir was seen chatting away with Karan and Rani Mukerji. Karan was overheard saying that he would love to watch Aamir’s film and that it is looking good. Aamir also got him personally introduced to Omkar Das Manikpuri (who plays the protagonist, Natha in Peepli Live), Raghuvir Yadav, all the Indian Oceans band members and Nagin (classical singer and late Habib Tanvir’s daughter).
The source added, “Karan had always regretted not bringing Aamir on his chat show Koffee With Karan. The two seem to have made up for that now. Their first encounter was during the multiplex strike (during the discord between multiplex owners and producers/distributors) where they were brought together on the same platform along with SRK. For the music launch, Aamir personally called Karan.”
Another source gave a slightly different interpretation of this newfound camaraderie, “Although Aamir had invited Karan for the Gustavo party, it was Kiran who broke the ice between them. After that they have regularly been in touch.”
Text messages to both Aamir and Karan did not yield results. But considering Karan is now regularly tweeting Aamir, we know they follow each other for sure.
